Guided Tour of the Electrified Portion of the Pacific Coast Railway
We all met at Osburn Yard and then began the tour at the park at Battles and Depot. Next we went east on Battles and Stowell out to the farm areas. Then back into downtown Santa Maria at 135/166. Next we went west on 166, then south along Ray Road to the Sugar Beet plant, and then to the Guadalupe Amtrak station/UP Office. We finally ended with lunch at El Tapatio in Guadalupe.
Today's tour focused on the electrified PCRy as it stood between 1906 and 1909. The PCRy eventually abandoned all lines south of San Luis Obispo in 1941.
Thank you, Kevin and Karl! Another fun and informative field trip!
And thanks to Gary for the photos.
