Annual Friends BBQ and Open House at the SMVRR on August 16, 2025

Friends of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad members attended the Annual Open House and BBQ hosted by the Santa Maria Valley Railroad on Saturday, August 16 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. A Santa Maria style tri-tip and chicken BBQ lunch were served.
Each of our 2025 Annual Scholarship winners received their award at the BBQ. There was also a small silent auction with all of the proceeds going to the Betty Himoto Memorial Scholarship Fund to support future scholarship winners.
A raffle open to all attendees gave a years membership and Annual Gala tickets to two lucky attendees. Other activities included a display of this years Photo Contest Winners, a tour of the cab of the new OmniTrax/SMVRR locomotive (#2025), and a demonstration of a new electric jack hammer/spike driver.
